Dr. Shibu Kar is the Associate Director of Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant Program. He also serves as the Assistant Dean and Program Leader for the Natural Resources, Environment, and Energy program of Illinois Extension at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Kar previously served as an Associate Professor of Natural Resource Management at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, a Regional Extension Specialist at Washington State University, and a Research Associate at Pennsylvania State University (Penn State). Shibu earned his Ph.D. in Forest Resources from Penn State, and Master’s in Environmental Management and Development from Australian National University, Australia. Dr. Kar has a strong background and interest in leading team efforts on collaborative applied research, Extension, and outreach in environmental and natural resource sustainability, renewable energy and community climate resilience.
