Pollution Prevention Outreach Associate

Hannah Leonard is Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant’s pollution prevention outreach associate. Working with Sarah Zack, she conducts extension and outreach activities related to the prevention of aquatic pollution, raising awareness of the impacts of microplastics and other contaminants of emerging concern on water quality, human health, and aquatic ecosystems. She is bilingual in Spanish and brings expertise in community organizing, grant writing, and public outreach to the pollution prevention team.

Hannah recently completed two years of service as a Community Environmental Conservation Volunteer with Peace Corps Panama, and her professional experience includes watershed monitoring and water quality assessment in the Great Lakes region. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Aquatic Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Freshwater Sciences. Hannah holds a Bachelor of Science in Coastal Environmental Science from Flagler College.
