Carolyn has served the Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant research program since 2010. She is the primary contact for questions related to requests for proposals and funded research projects at all stages of completion. She has collaborated with researchers and other staff from USGS Great Lakes Science Center, US EPA Great Lakes National Program Office, NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory, Great Lakes Observing System, Illinois Natural History Survey, both Illinois and Indiana DNR Lake Michigan Coastal Programs, LimnoTech, Inc., and many other academic institutions on research and outreach activities in the Great Lakes. As of 2022, she also serves as the Past-Chair of the National Sea Grant Research Coordinators Network.
Carolyn received a BSc in biology from the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and an MS in entomology from Purdue University, Indiana, USA. She maintains an active research program with the Purdue University Department of Forestry and Natural Resources Fish Ecology Lab (Tomas Hook, PI), and has peer-reviewed publications in journals such as Science of the Total Environment, Climatic Change, Ecological Indicators, and the Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences.
