Your phone calls, emails, and interactions through Twitter and Facebook have reassured us that the buoys are valued and needed. We are proud to be able to offer the services of two buoys—one located in the waters north of Michigan City, Indiana and the other near Wilmette Harbor, Illinois. Our goal is to provide real-time data for a variety of uses—charter fishing, recreational boating, weather forecasting, and more.
Putting a buoy in the water, year after year, requires many things to happen: the right weather conditions, the right equipment (buoy, boat, trailer), the right people (IISG specialists, volunteers), and the right technical services (website, data modem). It wouldn’t be possible without sufficient funding to keep the buoys afloat.

If you are interested in supporting Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant, you can make checks payable to “Purdue Foundation” and mail to 715 W State St., West Lafayette, IN 47907. Please include “Sea Grant” in the Memo line to give to the general program or “Sea Grant Buoys” to support the buoy program specifically.

Educators—2 days left to register! Join us this summer to learn more about the earth’s most precious resource... water! Together with @thengrrec, we are planning to host a @projectwet workshop on August 10. Workshop participants will receive the new Project WET Foundations of Water Education Guide. All the hands-on, interactive and interdisciplinary activities are aligned with Common Core and NGSS.
The workshop is free for formal and non-formal K-12 of educators, but registration is required and space is limited.
Register by July 27th.
