The State of Lake Michigan Meeting, supported in part by Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant, University of Illinois Extension, and Purdue University, will be held November 4–6, 2026, in Michigan City, Indiana.

This meeting revives the lake‑specific format previously hosted by IAGLR, offering a cost‑effective space where researchers, resource managers, outreach professionals, and partners from across the basin can connect. The focus this year is on strengthening the link between science and management, highlighting work that informs real‑world decision‑making across Lake Michigan’s ecosystems and communities.

We are working to develop an engaging program that will include symposia, workshops, field trips, presentations, networking events, and vendor displays. Additional details, including registration information and a draft agenda, will be shared in the coming months.

We look forward to seeing you in Michigan City this fall!

Call for Symposia/Workshops

We are now accepting proposals for Organized Symposia/Workshops for the 2026 State of Lake Michigan Meeting. Our goal is to provide a dynamic forum for sharing research, discussing emerging issues, and strengthening collaboration across the Great Lakes community. Symposia and workshops are the scientific centerpiece of the meeting and help shape the overall program.

If you have an innovative idea on a timely topic relevant to Lake Michigan science, management, or community engagement, we invite you to submit a proposal for consideration. Please submit your ideas and information here. Submission deadline is 1:00pm Eastern on June 1, 2026.
