Amanpreet (Aman) Kohli is the Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) Research & Outreach Associate with Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant (IISG). She coordinates the Great Lakes Region PFAS Scoping and Competitive Research. She also supports several other PFAS-related research and community engagement activities in collaboration with internal & external partners. Aman works to develop extension and outreach products focused on the impacts of PFAS in Great Lakes. She endeavors to promote better management of freshwater habitats and sustainability of communities dependent on numerous freshwater resources, as a means to address issues of environmental justice.

Aman is a broadly trained biologist with prior projects encompassing a wide range of topics including aquatic animal health, infectious diseases and conservation, water quality and ecosystem health, biodiversity assessment, land-use change, human-wildlife conflicts, and wildlife crime. She is also passionate about science communication, teaching, and mentoring. Aman holds a PhD in Marine Science with a sub-concentration in Marine Policy from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science at William & Mary, an MS in Biology from University of Nevada, an MSc in Environmental Studies from TERI University, and a BSc in Microbiology from University of Delhi.
