Sea Grant Illinois-Indiana
As an amendment to the Boater Registration and Safety Act signed into law by Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, aquatic plants and animals would need to be removed from seaplanes and watercraft before moving between bodies of water. The requirement is an important step in preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species throughout the state of Illinois, as well as between states and bodies of water where these vehicles might travel.
@seagrant_noaa is thrilled to announce the finalists for the 2025 class of the Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship. Two Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant finalists will be placed in the Executive Branch—Alexandra Skinner, a master’s student at @iuoneill; and Emily Johnson, who is working towards her master’s degree in biology at @loyolachicago. Matthew Sheffield, a J.D. candidate at @iubloomington, will be placed in a legislative position.
