Just as a gardener hopes that their scattered seeds will eventually bloom into a lush garden, Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant awards Discovery Grants, or ‘seed’ grants, to a number of projects in the hopes that the initiatives will grow into something larger. This publication answers local community questions about the revitalization of the Grand Calumet River Area of Concern in NW Indiana. Habitat restoration and sediment cleanup work under the Great Lakes Legacy Act began in 2009 and is expected to last another decade.
